Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Fair Housing Workshop and Second Public Hearing Notice CITY OF BRISTOL, FLORIDA
The City of Bristol plans to apply to Florida Commerce for a FFY 2023-2024 Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) in the Neighborhood Revitalization category for grant funding in the amount of $1,593,000. The activities, dollar amounts and estimated percentage benefit to low- and moderate-income persons are as follows:
The City of Bristol’s CDBG project proposes critical improvements to the sewer system along Miller Road, specifically in the northeast quadrant. The project includes rehabilitating the existing lift station, replacing the aging low-pressure forcemain and appurtenances with a gravity sewer system, and reconnecting households to the new infrastructure. The City’s wastewater infrastructure has faced significant challenges during hurricanes and other severe weather events, including power outages at lift stations and flooding that overwhelms the low-pressure forcemain. These conditions have historically caused system backups, service disruptions and increased maintenance demands. Transitioning to a gravity sewer system will reduce reliance on pumps, mitigate risks associated with storm-related power loss, and enhance resilience against future extreme weather events. By addressing these vulnerabilities, the City seeks to protect public health and ensure uninterrupted service for its residents.
The City of Bristol does not expect that anyone will be displaced because of the CDBG-funded activities proposed above. If any persons are displaced because of the planned activities, the City of Bristol will assist them as described in the City’s anti-displacement and relocation policy, which is available for review at Bristol City Hall located at 12444 NW Virginia G Weaver Street, Bristol, FL.
Fair Housing Workshop: A workshop on local, state, and federal fair housing laws will be held May 5, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.
Public Hearing: A public hearing to provide citizens an opportunity to comment on the application will be conducted directly following the fair housing workshop, on May 5, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.
